Jenny, Guitarist and back up vocals

From @elliebelly2, via Twitter:
What made you first want to be in a band?
'' I started singing and playing the guitar when I nine. Ever since then I haven't stopped practicing! I have a lot of influences like Foo Fighters and Nirvana. However, I started getting into Indie Rock when I met my friends who are also in the band with me. I hope one day to perform at big festivals like the Reading Rock Festival, or Glastonbury,''

From Tony, via Email:
What is your favorite song?
''Sliver by Nirvana,''

From @Willyoulove_me, via twitter
Do you ever get nervous performing on stage at local gigs?
''Always! But it is a good nervous, like an excited euphoria,'

From @ChloeBirdles, via twitter
How do you feel about your band being advocates for domestic violence awareness?
''Absolutely incredible. I think it is so great local bands can still promote serious topics like that even if its to raise awareness locally!'

Come back every Friday for an interview with the remaining members of our band. Send in your questions to us at codyandthemarmozets@gmail.com , or hashtag #codyandthemarmozets on twitter, for your question to be featured next time! Anyone who sends in a question gets an immediate follow from us!

''As a band we are working on increasingly promoting issues that continue to affect our fans''

We want to help and work along charities who deal with issues covering domestic violence, mental health problems, bullying and addiction problems. We have begun our first issue, which is domestic violence within relationships, and hope we have portrayed this as best as we can in our upcoming video.

Covering issues such as these is one close to our heart as a band. Spreading awareness and possibly encouraging those to seek help is what we truly aim to reflect in our song 'Love is blindness,' - Once in a violent relationship many victims can try to convince themselves they are fine with their partners violence, or simply may not understand what they are doing is wrong. a lot of people are also scared of leaving the relationship in case the violence comes to a point of permanent damage, or in fear of angering their respective partner.

In an emergency or if you have been affected by domestic abuse, you can call these numbers:

Domestic abuse by definition is where one person in a relationship tries to control and dominate the other person in the relationship. The 'domestic violence,' part is the physical part of the abuse, but it can be emotional abuse, or verbal abuse. Abusers use guilt, shame, intimidation and fear to maintain this relationship. Although in our video we have chosen to use a heterosexual couple of an teenage age, it can happen in all kinds of ethnicity's and relationships. However, we hope in our attempt to reach out to our fans, our choices have reflected and helped relate to a lot of our teenage fans. As an alternative rock band, we feel this couldn't be a better topic to relate to who we are.

We recently did a performance at The Face Bar, Reading as a part of the Indie Rock Battle of the bands! We will be performing again on 7th June 2015, 7.00pm. Tickets available on the door! RADIO ONE INTERVIEW 9/03/15

Here is an excerpt from an interview we recently had with Mark Evens from Heart Reading Radio about our band and supporting local music, the full interview is available to listen to from www.radio1/markevensinterviews/cody.co.uk but here is a transcript a kind fan typed up for us to publish as a first blog post!

Mark Evens, Radio 1:
We currently have Cody and the Marmozets in the studio everybody. These guys have been around since 2012 and have been making music locally in Reading and playing a few select gigs. they have recently been announced at Reading Festival and are ' one to watch,' So tell me. How has this journey been for you?
Cody, Lead Vocalist:
Its been brilliant. I never thought we would come further than practicing in our back garage to having the chance to performing at the introducing Stage at Reading Festival. Some people often don't give local music a chance because its not really music that is heard repetitively everyday that gets in your head. You kind of have to seek it out.
Mark Evens:
I see what you mean. Now I have been asked to ask you, what is up with the bands name - why Cody and The Marmozets?

Jenny, Drummer:
Well we have all been good friend since we went to school together, we only just left a couple of years ago. We wanted to start a band and then we went on a school trip together and were trying to figure out what we could call it - and then we saw these Marmozets and thought it sounded cool, so we just went with it and never looked back.

Mark Evens:
Apart from the name I wanted to ask about your latest Music Video coming out - Love Is Blindness. Could someone explain to me and give a full run down of what that is about?

Alex, Bassist:
As a band we are really passionate about issues that affect young people. Being young our selves, we see the kind of things teenagers are exposure to and have to go through. We aren't trying to preach or patronize anyone by covering issues like this, its more about spreading awareness. A lot of our fans locally are people we know and their friends who we know have gone through these issues personally. Anyway, I feel it is more fun to cover a serious topic than having a random video. Like, videos like Super Bass by Nicki Minaj are interesting, but their just a bit random and don't really have much of a story in them?

Mark Evens:
Yes I see where your coming from there. I guess being a local band you wouldn't have much funding from companies like really well known acts like Nicki Minaj herself.

Cody, lead vocalist:
Yeah, we basically create all our own promo material and website. If anyone wants to follow our instagram its @codyandthemarmozets - all our latest news goes on there so if there are fans listening you could give us a follow - and we promise to follow back!

For more interviews like this, check our website every Monday for more!
